There are a few ways to make the bowling ball hook less, one of the ways I hook the ball less, is to change my hand position on the ball to be more on the side of the ball. By hold the ball more on the side or tilting the ball left in your hand will help you roll the bowling ball with less hook. Since your hand is on the side of the bowling ball, it will take away from you hooking the ball more and if I have a hook ball or a active resin ball, to pick up spares, I tend to move my hand on the left side of the ball so I can’t hook the bowl as much. This is very good when it comes to when the lanes get dryer and picking up back pins tends to be harder to get because the ball wants to hook. So changing your hand position helps the ball hookless.
If you play the lanes straighter, this tends to make you hook the ball less or put less hand in the bowling ball. The further you move left from your spot, the more hand or hook you must put in the bowling ball. Now ball speed can help making the ball hook less.
More speed you put on the bowling ball can help make the ball hook less. when throwing the bowling ball with speed, the ball is less time the read the lanes and hook and you see this in pro bowlers when the lanes are very dry and they have a ten pin to pick up, then tend to throw the ball with a lot of speed because that ball is reading the lane and throwing the ball slow will make the ball read more of the bowling ball. So roll the bowling ball slower, will make the ball hook more.
The ball has more time to read the lane and take off when it hits some dry lane. A quick tip on ball speed, if you slide back from where you are standing at in the lane and ball from there, you will increase your ball speed, if you stand closer to the foul line, then you slower you will throw the ball. You gain more speed when you are further from the foul line, the closer to the foul line, the slower you throw the bowling ball which will hook more.
The bowling ball play a big role in hooking the ball less. If you have a strong bowling ball, that bowling ball will hook more than a weaker ball. A weaker bowling ball will hookless, a stronger ball will hook more so if you want to hook the lane less, use a weaker bowling ball.
