What are the disadvantages of bowling?

As you may know, bowling is fun with family and friends and joining a bowling league can be the next step if you want to get better at bowling and you can bowl with people on the same team. There are some disadvantages of bowling to talk about so in this post lets go over them.

What are the disadvantages of bowling?

One of the biggest disadvantage of bowling is that this sport has no defense. You can’t stop someone from bowling or slow someone down if they are bowling really good. If someone is bowling a 300 game, there is nothing that you can do but watch. The only that that you can do is to bowl just as good as them or keep up on how they are bowling. Sometimes bowlers get lucky and get strikes that they did not hit the pocket but when you hit the pocket, you leave 1 pin so sometimes luck can play apart in bowling as well.

Sometime handicap bowling can hurt more than help:

The handicap helps all bowlers with their scores so the bowlers that can really good have to have to bowl well with people that can’t bowl as well. This what happened to me last week while I was bowling in a league. Someone on the other team had 109 pin handicap score. So you must avg around 80 pins per game for him to have that high of handicap. Well if you think about, if he bowls a 100 game which is not hard, he would have 209 score game. So what happened was that in the first game he scored a 150 score which gave him a 259 game which that is hard to bowl against that score for one person on a 5 man team. So handicap can help or hurt you sometimes.

There is some pressure on your joints from bowling:

You might feel this yet but the leg that you slide with, you are putting on your knees and arm and back from bowling. Over time while bending, sliding and bowling, you will put pressure and all of your weight on your knees. It will be a good idea to lose some weight to put less pressure on your knees.

The cost of bowling:

Bowling equipment can cost a lot of money. A four ball bowling bag can cost $150 dollars and high end bowling balls can cost $130 dollars plus the cost of drilling the bowling ball. Then you have to pay the games of bowling and buy bowling shoes. So bowling can cost a lot of money over time. The cost of food if you buy food from the bowling alley and time as well because you must make time to go practice.

I think the pros outweigh the cons but there are some disadvantages of bowling that some people don’t know until they start bowling. Bowling is fun and with any sports, it will have it’s good and bad but it’s all fun and there is nothing like getting a strike at the bowling alley.
